About me

Chiara Weygaerts

Clinical Psychologist

My name is Chiara Weygaerts and I graduated as a clinical psychologist from the Free University of Brussels. During and after my studies, I worked at Emmaus Youth Care, where I supported young people and their parents with Positive Reorientation, Context-Guided Independent Living, and Emergency Home Support. I also gained experience at UPC Duffel's Dual Diagnosis department, where I provided individual programs and group therapy. These experiences showed me the value of supporting people through challenging times.

After that, I chose to work full-time as an independent clinical psychologist. This gives me complete freedom to work in my own way and give clients my full attention. I focus on adolescents (ages 12 and up), young adults, and adults seeking individual support during challenging times. Safety and connection are central to my approach; I believe that this is essential to finding courage to get to the core. Together, we'll explore your story, focusing not only on problems but also on your strengths and potential. I work based on insights from the psychodynamic framework, paying attention to underlying processes and patterns. I'll work with you to find the right point of entry, sometimes through creative means other times through conversation. Furthermore, I tailor my approach to your needs, with a warm, open mind and a listening ear. I believe everyone deserves to be heard without judgment and to be given a space to discover themselves. During an initial consultation, we'll discuss your needs and how we can move forward together.

Turn The Tide Psychology

Meet Amelia

The choice for Turn the Tide is no coincidence; it carries deep meaning for me. The name symbolizes the moment when something begins to shift… sometimes slowly and imperceptibly, sometimes unexpectedly and powerfully. This beautifully reflects how I see a therapeutic process: a process of movement and change that comes from within. It's about moments when you feel that things can be different, need to be different, and that you can make a change, however small. In our conversations, I'll join you on this journey, but you are the one who actively takes steps. At your own pace, with your courage and your own story.

Therapy isn't a passive process. It's not a ready-made solution you receive. It's a collaboration, where I walk next to you for a while, but you decide the direction we take. You don't have to do it alone, but you are the most important part of your own process. That vision is what encapsulates Turn The Tide. You have the power to turn the tide, even if that seems difficult at first.

We often dwell on what's happening around us: relationships, circumstances, events that affect us. But true movement arises when we dare to look at what these experiences trigger in us and how we cope with them. This shift in perspective, from the outside in, creates space for gentleness, insight, and change.

For me personally, the ocean is a source of peace and renewal. It reminds me that movement is part of life, sometimes gentle, sometimes turbulent, but always changing. In therapy, too, there are waves: memories, emotions, and patterns that surface, but also insights, peace, and connection that gradually surface. It is precisely in this movement that space for healing arises.

I believe in the power of small steps. In observing what's blocking us, feeling what's being touched, and moving carefully from there. Sometimes it's confronting, sometimes hopeful, often both at once. But I believe: there's always a possibility for movement and therefore for change. I'd love to help you find the confidence that, no matter how difficult, there's always a way to give new direction to your own story.

If these words resonate with you, then perhaps this is where your journey begins.
